The city is not a surface.
It is a collection of thresholds.

On a wet Wednesday in south London, the pavement became a second sky. Every window offered an argument for shelter: a curtain, a plant, an ambiguous lamp. Architecture began not at the facade, but in the gestures around it.

“A building becomes intimate when it leaves enough room for its occupant to finish the sentence.”
